ROADS & HIGHWAYS – Year 2023 n. 4 (Jul-Aug)

The work creates a pedestrian, cycle and vehicular crossing, to replace the existing bridges, which connects the right bank of the Adige river, on the A22 motorway side, with the historic center of Egna, the railway station and the neighboring industrial area, including also the intersections with the cycle paths present on the banks of the Adige river.

FONDAZIONE PROMOZIONE ACCIAIO

A 20 tons steel building which weight doubles the one of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The rectangular plant of the building is sectioned in three aisles, each one of 55 m long and 25 m higt, and the total surface is about 70.000 square meters. The need to cover such a wide area has been satisfied by using huge steel beams which emphasize the wide and impressive structure, while still giving a light and airy overall view. A result also achieve thanks to the windows located in the shed roof.

In curve viaduct composed by 3 spans, each one of 60 m. long, climbing uphill with regular slope.

The big steel and glass dome.

The central access to the museum, auditorium and library pass through the great round square with the fountain in the middle and it is connected to Corso Bettini through a path in between two historical buildings such as Palazzo del Grano and Palazzo Alberti. The cut-off pyramid-shaped steel and glass dome is the peculiar roof covering of the structure and it is also what identifies the whole building. Particular attention should be focused on top to the opening connected with the central ring, in axle with the fountain and to the missing of one radial truss, in axle with the entree to the square purposely designed to allow a gradual passing from the outside toward the square and the showing rooms.

The new arc bridge “DE GASPERI” is a lower way 80 m span tided arc bridge, designed by Prof. Ing. Piergiorgio Malerba and built by BIT S.p.A. di Cordignano (TV). It is the new north-west entree to the city of Milan.

The road axle Boffalora-Ticino-Malpensa is a project which includes the construction of a 130 m long double way viaduct, a 130 m long four-way viaduct and 16 crossroads of each one of 45 m long.

A corten-steel viaduct of 200 m long, perfectly integrated with the environment which is composed by 5 spans, each one of 40.00 m long. The viaduct is supported by V shaped piers or portal piers

A steel and glass tunnel shaped construction of 385 m long and 32 m width, with a variable height from 4 to 14 m comparing to the surrounding streets level (if including the underground floor, the max. height can reach about 25 m).

The automated People Mover, the new alternative and sustainable urban transportation system in Venice, is completely automatic in that there are no staff on board and it connects Piazzale Roma with the Tronchetto’s Island.

The New Parliament House is composed of two building both facing the main street and northerly attached to the Opera House “open air” Theatre. The theatre has been built on the ancient ruins of the old theatre. An urban re-organization project called Valletta City Gate Project which purpose is to re-design the front entrance of the island’s capital city.
